Concept:
Preventive dentistry involves professional dental care, such as regular check-ups, cleanings, and treatments like fluoride applications and sealants, combined with daily at-home practices like brushing, flossing, and maintaining a healthy diet. The primary goal is to prevent dental diseases such as tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer, thereby reducing the need for invasive and costly treatments and helping you keep your teeth for life.
Patients may avail annual coverage of and exam and partial coverage of a cleaning. This is checked on the date of your appointment.
Regular Check-ups
Regular check-ups with your dentist are generally recommended at 6 month or 1-year intervals, depending on individual needs.
Routine X-rays are taken between 1- and 3-year intervals depending on individuals caries risk.
Regular maintenance of restorations is even more important then maintenance of healthy dentition and soft tissues
Home hygiene tips
Tooth brushing
• A soft toothbrush is the only type which is recommended.
• Twice daily, 2 minutes , reach all the surfaces.
• Electric or manual are both OK.
• Smaller toothbrushes are easier to manoeuvre.
• Gentle circles along the gum line and across the occlusal surface.
• Less minty toothpastes for children.
Flossing
• Dental floss, interdental brushes etc... Very important to avoid decay.
• Daily
Mouthwash
• Not a substitute for Flossing
• Avoid alcohol-based mouthwashes
• Chlorhexidine based mouthwashes can stain the teeth. Recommend chlorhexidine gels for local gum issues
